How it works

From a syllabus to a graded, analysed course — without leaving your LMS

EduGears AI connects to Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard or Brightspace over LTI 1.3 in about three minutes. From then on, one integration carries each course through the whole term — and the educator stays in control of what publishes and what posts to the gradebook.

Three steps

Connect once. Create in any course. Teach with AI in every lesson.

1

Connect

Who
LMS administrator
Where
Site administration → External tools (or the Moodle plugin)
Takes
About 3 minutes, once

Register EduGears AI site-wide using LTI 1.3 dynamic registration. No plugin is required in any LMS; on Moodle the optional local_edugears plugin makes registration one click when your site is reachable from the internet — and when it isn't, it issues a registration code you paste, with your site's public JWKS document, on the manual registration page.

The course's activity chooser (deep linking)
Takes
Minutes per module

Add EduGears AI to any course the way you add any activity. Add your course documents — syllabus, textbook chapters, lecture notes — to Curriculum Intelligence so every tool draws on your own materials, then point it at a syllabus, a PDF, a Moodle backup, a Canvas course or a SCORM package. You get back a structured module — lessons, quizzes, practice sets, projects — that you can edit or refine with a one-line instruction before sharing.

3

Teach

Students and instructor
Where
Inside the course, as an activity
Takes
No extra login

Students open the activity with the identity they already have in the LMS. They learn in a guided Module Player with an AI Tutor per lesson, take quizzes and projects, and see results in the LMS gradebook — after you approve the scores.

No plugin is required in any LMS. On Moodle, the optional plugin makes registration one click on a publicly reachable site; a Moodle behind a firewall registers manually instead.

Per-LMS setup guide

One course, start to finish

Most AI tools do one thing. EduGears AI follows the course through the whole term — here is what happens at each stage, who does it, and where it lands in your LMS.

1Authoring

Start from what you already have

You do
Import a SCORM package, a Moodle course backup (.mbz) or a Canvas course — or paste a syllabus and upload your materials.
AI does
Decomposes it into modules and lessons, then writes the lesson plans, slides, study guides, worksheets and pages — grounded in the curriculum you uploaded, not the open internet.
You approve
Edit anything in the rich-text editor, or type a one-line instruction to Enhance with AI; preview and accept.
Students see
A guided, lesson-by-lesson Module Player with progress tracking and resume.
Lands in your LMS as
An EduGears AI activity in the course section you chose.

2Assessment

Assess the way you already teach

You do
Pick a question bank, generate a question set, or set a project brief with a deliverable checklist and your rubric.
AI does
Generates questions in ten types and draws unique exams from question groups; a Diagnostic Pre-Check and Reflections run on their own, with no effect on the grade.
You approve
Every question is editable, and answers stay hidden from students until you reveal them.
Students see
Quizzes, practice sets, projects and reflections inside the course, with open, due and close dates enforced.
Lands in your LMS as
A gradebook column per graded activity, created through LTI Assignment and Grade Services.

3Grading

Mark in minutes, approve in one click

You do
Attach your rubric — or the editable built-in default.
AI does
Marks written, short-answer and handwritten work — handwriting in more than ten languages — criterion by criterion, with feedback for the student.
You approve
Nothing posts until you approve; adjust any score first.
Students see
Score and feedback in the course as soon as you approve.
Lands in your LMS as
The grade in your gradebook via AGS — Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard or Brightspace.

4Cog · AI Tutor & AI Assistant

Meet Cog — an AI Tutor and AI Assistant on every page

You do
Nothing extra. Cog, the EduGears AI assistant surface, is already switched on: an Ask Cog bubble in the corner of every page, carrying both the Tutor and the Assistant.
AI does
Cog reads the page, so the chat opens already knowing the lesson, resource or question in front of you. The Tutor answers from the lesson content in four modes — Tutor, Mentor, Socratic and Coach; the Assistant helps you author in context and cites the course materials and help articles it drew on.
You approve
You decide what is shared; neither will surface quizzes or answer keys, so both are safe during assessment. One toggle shows you the learner's Cog exactly as they get it.
Students see
A conversation thread per context they can leave and come back to.
Lands in your LMS as
Inside the same activity — no separate app, no separate login.

5Analytics

See what actually worked

You do
Open the reports from inside the activity.
AI does
Aggregates attempts into a lesson-by-lesson funnel, item statistics with the most-picked wrong answers, grading reports and AI-usage reports.
Students see
Their own progress and results.
Lands in your LMS as
Grades and completion already sit in your gradebook; the reports stay one click away.

6And out again

Take it with you

You do
Export a module, a whole course or a question set.
AI does
Packages it with images and maths baked in.
Lands in your LMS as
SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or Common Cartridge 1.3 for the course; QTI 2.1 or Moodle XML for question sets — importable into any compliant LMS.

Who does what

Three roles, one integration.

Administrator

  • Registers EduGears AI once, site-wide — about three minutes.
  • Chooses the AI provider: the included Google Gemini, or your own key.
  • Sees AI usage and cost by model and by user.
  • Never shares user passwords — LTI 1.3 uses the identity your LMS already has.

Instructor

  • Adds EduGears AI from the course's activity chooser.
  • Imports, builds, assesses and grades — with AI doing the tedious part.
  • Approves every score before it reaches the gradebook.
  • Shares content when ready; answers stay hidden until revealed.

Student

  • Opens the activity from the course — no extra login.
  • Learns in the Module Player with an AI Tutor in every lesson.
  • Takes quizzes, practice sets, projects and reflections.
  • Sees grades and feedback in the LMS gradebook.

What stays where

Built on open standards so nothing of yours is trapped.

Stays in your LMS

  • Identities and roles
  • Enrolments
  • Course structure and navigation
  • Gradebook, due dates and completion

Lives in EduGears AI — and exports any time

  • Generated and imported content

Frequently asked questions

Which LMS does it work with?

Any LMS that supports LTI 1.3 Advantage — Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard and Brightspace among them. The tools, the AI Tutor and the grade passback are the same everywhere; only the administrator's registration screen differs. EduGears AI is a Moodle Certified Integration, and that certification covers the Moodle integration specifically.

Do I need to install a plugin?

No — not in any LMS. EduGears AI connects over standard LTI 1.3 Advantage, and the LMS administrator registers it once, site-wide, in about three minutes. On Moodle there is an optional plugin, local_edugears, that makes registration one click on a publicly reachable site; a Moodle behind a firewall registers manually instead.

What does the Moodle certification cover?

EduGears AI is a Moodle Certified Integration: its features and its LTI 1.3 integration were reviewed and verified by Moodle, and the listing can be checked on moodle.com. It is a review of the integration and what it does, not a security or privacy audit.

Is there a free tier, and what is held back?

Nothing is held back. The free plan includes every one of the 26 AI tools and 200 AI credits to evaluate them. Paid plans are sized by instructor seats — 5, 10, 15 or 20 — from $59.99 to $189.99 per month, with AI included and no credit limits (fair use applies), and learners are always free on every plan.

Is the content portable if we stop using EduGears AI?

Yes. You can import SCORM packages, Moodle course backups (.mbz) and Canvas courses in, and export to SCORM or Common Cartridge at any time. Grades, roles and enrolments stay in your own LMS throughout.
